Borusan Otomotiv, the official importer of BMW in Turkey and the brand’s largest importer worldwide, has signed on as a partner of the Türkiye Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, which runs through Nov. 22. Commissioned by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts, the pavilion presents “A Kiss on the Eyes” by artist Nilbar Güreş, curated by Başak Doğa Temür at the Sale d’Armi in the Arsenale. “As Borusan Otomotiv, we consider this partnership a significant milestone in our more than 40-year engagement with art,” said Hakan Tiftik, CEO of Borusan Otomotiv, in a statement. “This support represents a natural extension of Borusan Group’s long-standing commitment to culture and the arts, as well as the strong and authentic relationship that the BMW brand we represent in Türkiye has established with the art world.” Art first This is the first time BMW partner Borusan Otomotiv has backed the pavilion. The pavilion is also supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, with contributions from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, co-sponsorship from Trendyol Art and support from Turkish Airlines and the SAHA Association. Ms. Güreş’ exhibition spans sculpture, installation, painting and mixed media, working through textiles, everyday objects and organic forms to explore themes of intimacy, resilience and cultural identity. Image credit: BMW Group The importer supported Contemporary Istanbul, the country’s leading international art fair, in 2025 and took part in BMW’s 50th Art Car anniversary, bringing the BMW Art Car World Tour to Turkish audiences through events, fairs, festivals and dealer openings with works by Alexander Calder, Roy Lichtenstein, Jeff Koons and Julie Mehretu. Parent company Borusan Holding is a founding member of the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts and has backed the Istanbul Music Festival since its first edition. It also runs Borusan Contemporary at the historic Perili Köşk in Istanbul, whose collection was the first in Türkiye to join the International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art. The foundation has coordinated the Türkiye Pavilion since 2007.
