When Kamala Harris ran for president in 2024, she skipped the traditional sit-down interview with Time magazine, a ritual for presidential candidates since 1940.
Instead, the Democratic nominee made time for a comparatively obscure podcast-turned-music interview series called Track Star. For a three-year-old media company with only 16 employees, it was a promising start.
That gap between the massive cultural influence of Track Star and the modest operation behind it is precisely the opportunity newly appointed executive chairman Gus Wenner is betting on.
In January, the former CEO of Rolling Stone—and scion of magazine co-founder Jann Wenner—closed a seven-figure investment in Track Star’s parent company, Public Opinion, alongside its founder and CEO Jack Coyne.
