Nike’s Air Force 1 Is Getting a Bold Pony Hair-covered Colorway in Purple — Here’s a First Look
This follows August's orange-colored release.
The Nike Air Force 1’s chameleon-like tendencies will continue for holiday with another extra-furry rendition of the classic sneaker.
After the orange “Horse of a Different Color” Nike Air Force 1 was released, it looks as though the shaggy theme will be continuing throughout the year with the addition of at least one more bold colorway.
Previewed Monday by Nike designer Frank Cooke is a previously unseen purple spin on the look. Featuring a full colorway of Atomic Violet/Voltage Purple/White, the style dons a full faux pony hair upper in a vibrant blend of Atomic Violet and Voltage Purple, while a lighter purple shade fills in the edges of each panel.

It’s said that yet at least one more pony hair-covered Air Force 1 will join the lineup, bringing the total number of fluffy styles to three, although it’s not yet confirmed which color will round out the group.
Although Nike Inc. president and chief executive officer Elliott Hill has signaled that the company will reduce the supply of ubiquitous models such as the Air Force 1 , Air Jordan 1 and Dunk, there has yet to be a noticeable scale back at retail. If anything, the Swoosh has been pushing the Air Force 1 as much as ever, with a highly acclaimed remastered ’01 version being introduced this year along with numerous new styles.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low QS Pony Hair in Atomic Violet/Voltage Purple/White will be released this holiday season for a retail price of $140 from select Nike Sportswear retailers. The style code for the upcoming pair is IR1940-500.
